Heat Hacks

When the heat gives you a serious beatdown, we’ve got some tips to help you keep your cool.

Listen up! Summer is officially here and with it comes heat waves. Not that we’re complaining, right? (Right???) Because sizzling, scorching heat is a beautiful thing. Until it isn’t. When the heat gives you a serious beatdown, we’ve got some tips to help you keep your cool.

1) Go jump in a lake

Literally. That cool lake water gives you the instant cooldown when you go for it headfirst. A bit of a shock to the system but there’s nothing better than diving right in. Or get your float on with a drink on the dock and hang out all day.

2) Celebrate it

Call it The Great Heat Wave of The Best Summer Ever and make a theme night. The catch? Show up with something ‘cool,’ like ice cream or a hand-held fan. Everyone can camp out in the yard or on the balcony until the heat breaks.

3) In-and-Out

Make good on some free A/C when you need it. When you’re cruisin’ the sidewalks, that blast of cold air from stores feels amazing.

4) Get garden-hosed

Hot mess? Grab your garden hose for a quick quench. Better yet, get a whole crew together and organize an epic water fight. Super soakers, water balloons, buckets are all fair game. By the time you’re drenched, you’ll barely even feel the sun’s burn.

5) Mix yourself an icy Malibu Slushie

A seriously-delicious way to front the forecast. Bust out your blender, add your favourite fruit and lots of ice to score a slushie. Add 1 oz of Malibu to add a splash of coconut and up your tropical feel. Bonus points for pouring your concoction into popsicle moulds. Freeze and enjoy!
