Malibu Mangonada

The Malibu Mangonada is an indulgently rich, tropical cocktail that’s both sweet and savory. This easy-to-make drink is an enchanting blend of Malibu’s smooth coconut flavor with sweet mango and tangy lime. The spiciness from the Tajín® Clásico Seasoning and Fruity Chamoy Sauce also give it an invigorating kick that’s best described as a cha-cha dance on your palate. Enjoy it with brunch, sip it in the sun, or share it with friends.

Tools you’ll need:

Jigger or measuring tool

This is to measure the right amounts of ingredients. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. We sometimes just use a 1 oz or 30 ml shot glass.

Shaker

We suggest using a good cocktail shaker for mixing, as you can easily feel when it gets chilled enough on the sides. But you can also simply use a mason jar or a travel mug with a tight lid.

Strainer

You’ll need this to keep the ice out of the drink when pouring it into the glass. Our tip for an alternative is using a slotted spoon, a fine-mesh sieve or the lid of your jar to hold back the ice.

Glassware

Using a highball glass for this cocktail helps show off the beautiful, layered effect. But you can always use a shorter rocks glass, it will still look pretty.

Small plate

This is for rimming your glass. Our tip is to pour the Tajin® Clásico Seasoning on the plate, run a lime wedge around the top of your glass, and dip the glass into the powder.

Knife and cutting board

For cutting the mango slices to use as a garnish. Always make sure the board is dry, so the knife or mango doesn’t slip. Be careful!

About the Malibu Mangonada

The Malibu Mangonada is a stunning, tropical cocktail with a flavor profile that ignites all the senses – sweet, savory, tangy and spicy – all in a beautifully layered drink that resembles a paradise sunset. Start with some sweet, coconutty Malibu Original and the rich taste of mango nectar, add some tangy lime, with the savory hint of Tajín® Fruity Chamoy Sauce and the spicy kick of Tajín® Clásico Seasoning. And you’ve got a taste party where every flavor is invited.

Where does the Malibu Mangonada cocktail come from?

This drink is inspired by the traditional Mexican dessert, the Mangonada, which is known for its unique flavor combinations. It is said to have been popularized by ice cream street vendors, creating a delicious treat for hot summer days. This Malibu cocktail version aims to provide a similar experience when you’re hanging out at a picnic, at a backyard party, or enjoying a sun-soaked afternoon with friends.
