Tools you’ll need

Highball glass
We recommend using a tall glass for this drink as it beautifully showcases the mint leaves and lime in contrast to the clear liquid. That said, any glass you have at home will do.

Jigger or Measuring Tool
To get the right amount of ingredients in the drink, we suggest using a jigger, but any kitchen measuring tool will work. Pro tip: you can also use a 30 ml / 1 oz shot glass.

Hand Juicer
This is for making your own delicious lime juice. Of course, you can use bottled versions, but we always think fresh is best.

Muddler (Optional)
If you want to crush the mint leaves and lime, a sturdy muddler is needed. This releases their vibrant flavors into the drink. We do it, but it’s not necessary.

Knife and Cutting Board
You’ll need this for cutting the lime and the mint leaves. As always, be careful and we recommend ensuring the board is dry before using it to avoid slippages.

How to make the perfect Coconut Mojito
Mojito Step 1

1

Start by adding ice, 10 fresh mint leaves and the lime wedges in your highball glass. Our pro tip is to gently muddle the lime and mint leaves together, but this is optional.

Mojito Step 4

2

Pour in 1 part of Malibu Original. The coconut flavor of Malibu is what gives this mojito variation its unique twist.

Mojito Step 2

3

Pour in 0.5 parts of lime juice. This adds a zesty zing and balances out the sweetness of the Malibu.

Mojito Step 3

4

Top it off with 2 parts of soda, The bubbles from the soda add a delightful effervescence to the cocktail.

Mojito Step 5

5

Finally, give it a gentle stir and garnish with a mint sprig on top for the perfect aromatic finish. Remember, presentation matters.

Mojito Step 6

That’s it, enjoy!

OUR TOP TIPS FOR CREATING THE PERFECT COCONUT MOJITO

1. Use fresh mint leaves

We say the lighter the green, the better, especially when it comes to mint leaves, since they bring the brightest flavor to your cocktail. Trust us, it makes all the difference.

2. Roll your limes

Do this before juicing to maximize the amount of juice you get. This simple trick ensures that you capture every drop of citrusy goodness in your mojito.

3. Balance the sweetness

The trick to adjusting the sweetness of your drink is adding a little simple syrup. If you accidentally add too much, just balance it out with a little more lime juice.

4. Muddle with care

If you choose to muddle the mint and lime, our pro tip is to do it gently as over-muddling can lead to bitterness. The goal is to release the flavors without crushing the ingredients into a bitter pulp.

5. Garnish with mint

We always garnish our mojito with a sprig of mint for that extra aromatic touch. This not only looks beautiful but also adds a fragrant finish to your drink.

About the Coconut Mojito

The Coconut Mojito is a delightful drink that’s a tropical twist on the classic Mojito, bringing the laid-back vibes of summer to your glass. The zingy lime juice adds a burst of citrusy freshness, complemented by the coolness of mint leaves. Malibu Original, with its hint of coconut, is like a taste of paradise. Finish it off with the bubbliness of soda water, and you’ve got a drink that’s as lively and vibrant as a night out.

A splash of history

Let’s take a sip back in time to the origins of the Mojito. Born on the vibrant streets of Havana, Cuba, the classic Mojito has been a favorite since the 16th century. Fast forward to today, and the Coconut Mojito is a modern twist that brings a taste of the summer straight to your glass. It’s a fusion of tradition and tropical vibes, creating a drink that’s as timeless as it is tantalizing.

Your top Coconut Mojito FAQs answered

What can I do with my leftover ingredients?

Let’s talk zero-waste! Depending on how big or small your party is, and how much of each ingredient you use, you may be left with some additional Coconut Mojito ingredients. Don’t throw them away. Instead, here are some of our favorite ideas for things to do with the leftovers:

Leftover Malibu:  Malibu is always handy for your next cocktail adventure. We love that Malibu’s coconut flavor is perfect for experimenting with new tropical concoctions like the Piña Colada, Malibu Bay Breeze or the easy-to-make Malibu & Pineapple Juice.

Leftover Mint: We love using mint in many Coconut Mojito Variations, but also add it to iced water. It’s a simple yet elegant way to serve water with a hint of flavor. Remember to store your leftover mint in the fridge with the stems still in water.

Leftover Lime/Lime Juice: Limes are versatile, and their juicy zestiness can brighten up anything from salads to grilled fish and, did we mention, cocktails like our Malibu Spritz Variations.
