Tools you’ll need

Blender
You’ll need a quality blender. To us, it’s essential for making sure all the ingredients blend smoothly together for that creamy texture and perfect balance in flavour. You can also use a hand or electric whisk if you don’t have a blender.

Bottle or Jar
Once you’ve blended the ingredients, you’ll need a bottle or jar with a lid to store your cocktail. This will keep it fresh and chilled in the fridge. We recommend at least 2 hours to let all the ingredients chill perfectly.

Jigger or Measuring Tool
For getting the proportions of this drink just right, you’ll need a measuring tool or a jigger. You can also use a measuring cup or a 30 ml / 1 oz shot glass too.

Serving Glasses
Finally, to serve your Malibu Coquito in style, we need some lovely glasses. We recommend a highball glass or a hurricane glass, depending how fancy you want to be.

OUR PRO TIPS FOR CREATING THE PERFECT MALIBU COQUITO

1. Balance the Spices

Cinnamon and nutmeg are the star flavours of this recipe. We suggest starting with a small amount and gradually adding more to taste.

2. Choose your milk wisely

Whether you prefer almond, coconut, or regular milk, each choice will subtly influence the flavour and texture of your drink. Experiment to find the perfect match for your taste buds.

3. Don’t Rush the Chill

After bottling, we recommend letting your mixture chill in the fridge for at least a couple of hours. This patience pays off, as it lets the flavours develop fully and the drink reach the perfect serving temperature.

4. Garnish with Flair

We always say, don’t skimp on the garnish. A whole cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of nutmeg not only looks beautiful but also enhances the aroma of each sip.

5. Make it Ahead of time

This is a wonderful make-ahead drink. We sometimes prepare it a day or two in advance to let the flavours infuse even more.

Make a larger batch for friends

If you’re hosting a larger party or group of friends, we find that it’s easier to make a batch of Coquito in a blender instead of making individual drinks. In this case, we suggest using our recipe below:

Ingredients (Serves 4):

260 ml Malibu Original
260 ml Cream of Coconut
260 ml Milk of Your Choice
Cinnamon & Nutmeg to Taste
4 Dashes Vanilla Extract

How to make it: Throw all ingredients into a blender without ice. Blend and pour into hurricane or highball glasses to chill in the fridge for at least two hours. Then garnish with cinnamon & nutmeg. Enjoy!

Malibu Coquito

The Malibu Coquito is a deliciously creamy cocktail with a delightful blend of Malibu Original and the traditional Coquito cocktail. With the addition of spices like nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla, this drink is more like a flavour party for your taste buds, making it perfect for gatherings with friends. Whether it’s a festive outdoor celebration or a casual get-together at home, Malibu Coquito adds a taste of summer to any occasion.

A Short History of the Malibu Coquito

Often referred to as Puerto Rican eggnog, the Coquito is a holiday tradition in Puerto Rico, celebrated for its creamy, coconutty goodness. Malibu Coquito takes this classic and infuses it with the laid-back, tropical vibes of Malibu Original, creating a fusion that honors the roots of the drink while adding a modern twist.
