Tools you'll need
Jigger or Measuring Tool
This is for getting the amount of ingredients just right. Our tip is if you don’t have a proper jigger, just use a 1 oz or 30 ml shot glass.
Glassware
Our suggestion for this drink is a rocks glass, but it works in a highball too. Whatever you have in your kitchen is fine, as long as it’s see-through and can fit plenty of ice.
Small Plate
You’ll need this for garnishing the rim of your glass. Simply pour some Tajín® Clásico Seasoning on the plate, run a lime wedge around the top of your glass and dip it in while making small circles.
Knife and Cutting Board
You’ll need this for cutting your grapefruit and lime wedge for the garnishes. Just be careful and make sure the board is dry before using so it’s not slippery.

To us, it tastes like a tropical twist on the classic tequila-based Paloma with a hint of coconut and sweetness from the Malibu, combined with a kick of heat from the Tajín® Clásico Seasoning. All balanced with a splash of grapefruit soda.
-
We think the coconutty taste of Malibu Original is key to this drink’s smooth tropical flavour profile, and it provides a sweetness that balances out the tequila.
-
We found the easiest way is to pour the Tajín® Clásico Seasoning onto a small plate, rub a lime wedge or water around the top of the glass, and place the glass upside down on the plate and make small circles until the whole rim is covered with seasoning.
-
Our suggestions are switching to a less-sweet grapefruit juice, cutting down the agave syrup a bit, or adding a little more lime juice since the acidity will balance out the sweetness.
-
Simple! Just cut a ripe grapefruit in half and use a citrus juicer to extract the juice. We always prefer using fresh juice in our cocktails for a more authentic taste.
-
Absolutely! Substitute the tequila with an alcohol-free spirit or simply replace the Malibu with coconut water and more grapefruit juice for a delicious mocktail.
-
Yes, you can mix the ingredients (except the ice) in advance and store them in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to serve, simply shake with ice and pour into glasses.
-
Our favourite way is with a slice of grapefruit and a lime wedge since they contrast beautifully with the Tajín® Clásico Seasoning and give a fresh aroma. If you’re feeling extra fancy, try sprinkling some toasted coconut flakes on top.
